Dr. J. Richard Callahan graduated with a Masters in Science degree in biology from Bridgeport University. He attended National College of Chiropractic in Chicago where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Dr. Richard continues to attend post graduate seminars to keep abreast of the rapid changes in the health care fields. He has practiced in York since 1956, specializing in nerve, bone, joint, allergy and nutritional disease and preventative health care procedures. He holds Nebraska Chiropractic License #468. Dr. Richard followed his father, Dr. Burt Callahan, in the practice of chiropractic. He has completed courses in Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET). He has a 100-hour certification in acupuncture and has had previous training in auricular therapy. His graduate hours, which always exceed the standards of the state of Nebraska for chiropractic licensure, include courses in clinical nutrition, muscle reflex testing, allergy elimination technique, chiropractic orthopedics with an emphasis in low back pain, applied kinesiology, botanical medicine, Kaufman's pain neutralization techniques, and relationships of acupuncture alarm points and nutritional therapeutics.

Professional memberships are to the American Chiropractic Association and the Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association. Professional experience includes over 50 years of active chiropractic practice, all at Callahan Chiropractic in York, Nebraska.
Dr. Richard and his wife, Winifred, have 5 children. He is active in family, exercise, church activities, and hunting and fishing.
